Anyone who follows the history of the Delmarva Peninsula understand the importance of the railroad systems of the late 19 and early 20th centuries were to growth of the area. Last week’s “Point of Interest” post was on Harrington, Delaware. This week we move to Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Town of Sudlersville.

Sudlersville Train StationThe Queen Anne’s and Kent Railroad layer tracks to the small colonial town, Sudlersville. This provided a way of better transportation and a faster way for the area’s farmers to get their products to market. The town grew and in 1885 the Train Station was built.

The station was purchased by the Sudlersville Community Betterment Club in 1987 and restored. It is now a museum displaying the history of the town and the surrounding area.
