Two Years Later

Walk in the ParkFriday the 13th, 2020. To me this was the day that the world came to a halt due to Covid-19. Even though it was a couple days earlier that Maryland’s Governor Hogan announced that schools would close for two weeks beginning on Monday March 16 and his ‘Stay in Place’ order a few weeks later, to me March 13th was the day that things changed. Up until less than 24 hours earlier I was scheduled to photograph an event. It was cancelled. Other activities that were schedule to begin on Monday also was canceled.

As an event photographer that was beginning to shift to doing more commercial photography, I basically found myself unemployed. Spring was beginning to arrive and my Fine Art side had been getting excited. The wold was closing and with all that was going on, I basically shut down. I was in a depressed state. In fact I didn’t leave the house during the month of April.

This was one of the few shots I took looking out my windows.

Now is a good time to acknowledge my networking and business friends. If it wasn’t for you being there I know my life today would have be much different. John, Lee, Michelle, Joy, Rod, Jeff and many others. Thank You!

Even though I ventured out a few times without the usual events there wasn’t really much need. I did get out to take some photos in Mid-August for an cancelled Pirate event that advertised it as “Lost at Sea” with a Pirate Family walking through the town looking for the event. While the photos were appropriate for the time period, I was greatly criticized for taking them.

During the Summer of ’20 I began doing research on Personal Branding and Branding Photographer. I marketed a little more toward small business and got a few jobs, although not until 2021.

Beginning in the Fall with a break during the Winter I began going out to parks and other places. The photos from some of these trips were the basis of the “Points of Interest” series that I began here, moved to ChesaDel Crier, the Webpage I publish for Art and Entertainment between the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.

A little less than a year ago I realized that my Photo Project “Delmarva Scenes” had really been photographing scenes along the Chesapeake Country Byway. This was when I began Chesapeake Country Roads – ChesapeakeCountryRoads.com.

Once people began taking the Covid-19 vaccine, life became a little closer to normal. Some small events began happening, New Business Ribbon Cuttings, Chamber’s Meet and Greets and others. I began doing more Photojournalist work along with the commercial work. While personal photo sessions are a small piece of my business, it began increasing as well.

This brings us up to now. After the Winter Covid uptick, now two years later, although it often feels like it was longer, things are getting closer to life as it was Pre-March 2022.

Where am I Now?

I doing photography work as it comes to me. While I’m not actively seeking it I am looking to do more Business photography work as well as Personal. I still have the belief that everyone should have professional photos done many times throughout their lives and my goal is to offer low cost option to do this.

I am working to rebrand my “Delmarva Scenes” greeting cards and Wall Art under the Chesapeake Country Roads imprint with them being available in early April.

Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at ShoreToBeFun. And I would really appreciate it if you could join my Patreon Page – Patreon.com/ShoreToBeFun to follow my Chesapeake Country Roads project as I work on my Photo-book.

Whether you want a photo for your wall; a custom card to send; a photographer for your event, portrait, or business photos, let’s do it!
