At the end of August I will begin my 65th year as a resident of Earth. I was fortunate enough to be born here on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Country, and other than 20 years living on the Western Shore, but still in Maryland, I have lived here my entire life.
For the past 20 plus years I have worked in various ways to promote life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. First publishing a calendar of events, then as a journalist, turning more into a photojournalist, mostly with a tourism theme.
Two years ago, as the Covid Era began, my thoughts were to expand my photographic services to do more portraits, business (Head Shots and Personal Branding) and personal (lifestyle). As 2020 progressed and my 62nd birthday arrived, I also began looking toward retirement.
These two years I has been very busy. Much of my resources, time, has gone to what some term as ‘working in my business’ instead of ‘working on my business. For me this is spending more time in marketing than production, taking photos.
I have always thought of myself as a Fine Art photographer. When I deliver my elevator speech it often includes the phrase, “I’m a Fine Art Photographer creating beautiful photos of places and people”. While I have done a few portrait and business head shot sessions, most of my photographs I would label as being either photojournalism or Fine Art Landscapes.
In my 65th year, and I’m sure even beyond that, I will still do portraits, head shots or business branding photographs, however my focus will be more on my Fine Art and bringing to reality a couple of my Photographic Projects. One of these will be one I call, “Our bodies, A Reflection of Our Life“. You can read more about this proposed project HERE.
As it has been for most of 2022 my project Chesapeake Country Roads – ChesapeakeCountryRoad.com will be a big factor for the next 5 months selling my two Calendars and greeting cards featuring my Chesapeake Country photographs.
As a journalist I have often written informational pieces. I even published a few here. I would like to get back to doing pieces for those looking for photographers. Your Personal Brand and Photographs is an example.
I have been looking for someone, a female model, to collaborate with me to create some ideas I have for cosplay, costumes and other Artistic Portraitures. With kids returning to school in a few weeks, I’m thinking that stay-at-home mom wanting to do something creative would fill this role nicely. As would a retiree.
