Nearly two months ago millions of people celebrated the beginning of the New Year. As some of you know, it is my opinion that March 1st should be the beginning of the New Year.
With that said:
Happy New Year
February is a short month and once President’s Day is over the final days of the month come and go fast. Of course since I like to see the arrival of March, February can go by as fast as it wants. Although in many ways, other than a couple of cold days, this February has seemed more like Spring than than Winter.
Plenty of good things have happened this month. The store in Greensboro, MD has re-opened on February 9th with the Grand Opening featuring a Gallery show a few “Waters of the Chesapeake” photographs. Although we haven’t had that many visitors nearly all did leave with a purchase saying they would return.
Coming up at the shop in March includes a “Networking on the Shore”, business networking event on March 9, 2023 from 4 to 6pm. I am planning to host a Networking event at the shop once each month.
I will be a vendor at the Caroline Chamber of Commerce’s “Artisans on the Choptank” at Wharves Visitors Center in Denton on Saturday March 11th from 11-3pm. The shop will be closed during this time since both myself and Positive-Tea will in Denton, but we will be in the shop afterwards.
Head shots for business and personal use can be done by appointment at any time. Tentatively scheduled is to do Head Shots at “Networking in Annapolis” on Wednesday March 22nd. I may do one at the shop at the end of March, but the plans are to have a regularly scheduled one each month, probably on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
Beginning in March I will be offering a “Card of the Month” for those who subscribe to the “Card of the month” club tier on my Patreon Page.
And of course with spring beginning I will be out capturing photographs of Chesapeake County as life returns to the shore and the naked trees are again covered by their leaves.
I am still offering opportunities for people to have an inexpensive photo session so that I can update my portfolio. That offer is still there. See the Special Offer for more details. Spring is a great time to use nature as the backdrop for some awesome photos.
I consider the time from March to the end of the year as my busy time and look at January and February as a time to reflect on the past year and looking forward to what I want to accomplish in the upcoming year.
My project “Explore Chesapeake County” has been one of those projects from which I took some time away. I am revamping the idea and changes will be coming beginning in April.
2023 is the year that I turn 65. Not that long ago it was thought as the time to retire. And in 2020 I had thought about retiring. Once 2021 arrived and the pandemic began to fade I realized that the work I was doing isn’t really work, it’s what I want to do. And while I may not attend, be part of, or cover as a photojournalist as many events as I did pre-pandemic, I will still be out there exploring and sharing photographs as I travel throughout Chesapeake Country.
As Maya Angelou said, “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”
And I am doing what I love and hope that you enjoy seeing the photographs I am creating.
