Half Way to March

Year's First Light - Photograph by SG (Steve) Atkinson

My first photograph of 2023 – Year’s First Light

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, January and February are my least favorite months. January 1st in my view shouldn’t be the first day of the new year. January is a dreary month. It’s so bad that the third Monday of January, termed as Blue Monday, is considered as the saddest day of the year. Why would anyone want to be sad as the new year begins?

For me the first two weeks of 2023 were ones that found me in the winter doldrums. It really wasn’t until the 3rd Tuesday that I finally got out of it. And the rest of that week had some good news come my way.

Just as the year was ending  a water pipe burst causing damage to the building. It was the 3rd Thursday of January that I was told that the repairs were complete and we could move back in.

As a Fine Art Photographer my photographs were on display in the store. My photographs as Wall Art is a big part of my offerings there. During the initial opening there were just a bunch of photos that over the years I either had printed on canvas or ones I framed. There really wasn’t much of a theme, other they were all photos shot on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

There will be a theme for the re-opening. “Waters of the Chesapeake”. All of the photos on display upon opening will have a water scene. It could be a stream, a creek, a river that’s part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Of course there will be photos of the Chesapeake Bay.There will be other photographs available as Wall Art just not displayed on the walls,  Cards and Mugs featuring my photographs will be on sale too.

There will be an Open House/Gallery Show reception that is scheduled for February 10th.

Positivi-Tea will continue to be my partner at the shop. I am planning to have a small Visitor’s Section for information on tourism in the area.

As a small business I am always learning more from books on business. There are a couple of local authors who in recent years have published books on business. I have talked with a couple and planning to talk with a couple of others to have their books available for purchase. I am working on one myself on Personal Branding and the use of photography. If anyone would like to have a conversation on Personal Branding, let’s talk.

For the past few months I have been offering opportunities for people to have an inexpensive photo session so that I can update my portfolio. That offer is still there. See the Special Offer for more details

Many times I have heard people talk about how fast time seems to fly by. I do it myself. But looking back on January and how fast it has seemed to go by, I’m not complaining. As January fades into February we are half way to March and I’m looking forward to March arrival with the more daylight hours , the warmer weather, and the new beginnings with nature emerging from hibernation.
