During 2020 I published the following post on what photos I may use for an actual Gallery Show. It is now 2023 and with the opening of the shop in Greensboro I am planning on doing an actual Gallery Show. The show is scheduled for mid-February, 10, 2023 at the shop in Greensboro, 103 W Sunset Ave. The shop has been temporary closed for repairs due to a water damage from a burst water pipe that occurred in late December, Repairs are finished and we are starting to set up the shop and we will be open by February 1st. The Gallery Shop will be a part of our re-opening celebration.
If you had been to the shop, you would have seen many of my photos on the walls. The Gallery Show really won’t be much different, other than I will be selecting a theme currently titled Chesapeake Country.
Some, but not all of these photos may be included in my Gallery Show. A couple of these photos have been hanging in the shop already.

Even though as I publish this we are in the middle of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) affair, the thoughts for this Galley Show began while things was still quite normal. I was wondering if I was to do a live Gallery Show, (which may actually happen) which 12 photographs would I have printed and displayed at that show. These are the Dozen.

I’ll start with this one, also the oldest, which I call “The Road to the Rainbow’s End”. I just happened to be traveling this road near my home when the rainbow appeared. I have actually been holding this one for some time, since I am working on a work of fiction that I have given this title and when it’s completed and published, I plan to use this photo as the cover.

Now to the most recent of the Dozen Photographs. This was taken just as summer was turning into fall at Eastern Neck Island. For the Small Works show at Queen Anne’s Centre for the Arts, I printed a 7 inch square of a portion of the photo. I had simply titled it Butterfly. When I submitted it to them they remarked how wonderful the thistles and the butterfly looked together. Now I think of it as “Butterfly in the Thistles”.

2015 was one one of the coldest winters on the Delmarva in recent memory. It was nearly zero during President’s Day Weekend when I ventured out in the cold to capture some icy memories. I was in Wilmer Park in Chestertown when I saw this sign. I had seen it many times before, but never noticed that it read “No Ice Skating”.

Before court activities moved to the new Court House for Queen Anne’s County in Centreville, this Court House was the oldest still in service. It also was in the Ragged Old Flag Super Bowl Commercial. This is from the Spring of 2016, not all that much before it was filmed for that commercial. This is simply “Court House in Spring”

The Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay has a love affair with “Sailboats”

Capturing natural reflections is not something that look for, but when I find them I try to capture the beauty. This one of Morgan Creek, outside of Chestertown, I believe was the first. I call this “Reflective Creek”

And here is another reflection taken during Downrigging weekend in Chestertown in 2018. The day before it had rained and even most of the day when this was taken. Earlier in the week, I had captured a similar shot. This one was much better. “Lights on the River”

I have taken quite a few sunsets. Enough to have a Greeting Card set at Delmarva Scenes and a Calendar. This is my favorite, “Harbor Sunset”.

I I think of this more as an artistic work than a sunset, although it was also in the Sunset Calendar. Hebe is the goddess that sits atop of the Fountain in Chestertown. This was taken during a Music in the Park concert. Most of the audience was sitting in a way that they probably didn’t see the clouds as the sun set that evening. Sometimes I call it Hebe Sunset, but also “Hebe and the Golden Clouds”

This is one of those that has been in a previous Gallery Shows. Once upon a time the Town of Rock Hall as well as other Chesapeake Town’s economies were from harvesting the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. At the end of the day’s work on the water their boats are at the dock. While there are still watermen in Rock Hall, these workboats are still in use, it’s a life that is disappearing. “The Day is Done”

Flags are a favorite of mine to photograph. This flag flies on the Sultana in Chestertown and I just think of it as “Flying Freedom:

And in closing, something a little different. This is an example of an Artistic Portraiture. I call this “Girl in Thought”.
So here you have it. A dozen photos of mine that I would print and frame for a Live Show. A few of these I have printed. “Girl in Thought”, “No Ice Skating”, and “Harbor Sunrise” as 11×14 prints. “Harbor Sunset” I also have as a 16×20 canvas. “Day Is Done” and “Lights on the River” are 13×19 prints. I also have Reflective Creek as an 8×10, but probably would print bigger for an actual show.
Would you like to purchase one of these unframed prints? 8×10 matted 11×14 at $24.95, 11×14 at $45, 11×17 at $60 or 13×19 at $75 send an email request to photos@shoretobefun.com.
Thank You
