Reflections on a Long Year

Reflective Creek – 2015

As 2020 comes to a close I, like many others, am looking back at the year that was. For me and I’m sure for you as well, this year has seemed to be the longest year ever. It was already planned as a year longer than usual with it being a leap year and a once every four years February 29th.

January was a month of recovery from a small health issue that required surgery in mid-December. I had planned on developing a new facet in my services as a photographer in the opening weeks of 2020, but the planning was delayed until January. Finally at the end of February, I began marketing myself as a Personal Brand photographer.

But as we all know in March the world changed when health concerns with the Covid-19 virus, being asked in shelter-in-place and shutting down all but essential services. Many things for all were all of a sudden was placed on hold.

With some of the new found time, since I wasn’t spending hours a week in the car, I decided to expand my knowledge of Personal Branding and Branding in general. I was thinking that I would pivot to being a Personal Branding Coach as well as a Personal Brand Photographer.

Usually my summers are full of photographing events, however events I usually attended were cancelled. I did post on my Facebook Page photos of past events, which was appreciated by many. Although for reasons that even now I don’t really understand, I became a hermit this past summer rarely leaving the house.

Around the time of my birthday at the end of August I came out of that shell. I began going out photographing nature. I also began a series of ‘Points of Interest On Delmarva’ photo-essays. These had a combination of new photos and ones I had captured over the years. Beginning in January 2021 these will continue on the ChesaDel Crier, my online Art and Entertainment publication.

In a way to improved myself at doing Artistic Portraitures I’ve began working with models.

These past couple of months I have been busier than I’ve been in quite awhile and although I’m sure that the winter months will be a bit quieter, but with the plans I have already in mind, 2021 will be a great year.

As 2021 begins will be making a few changes to this Website. Although it won’t be a rebuild or a complete rebranding. It’ll be an update. Most of the basic site hasn’t changed since January of 2018 and needs a little refreshing. I do plan to post more informational pieces to go along with photos I’ve taken over the years, as well as new ones.

2020 been a year of rediscovery. One that has taken much of the year for me to find myself. I am a photographer. And I think that the following fits what I want to achieve in 2021.

“Whether you want a photo for your wall, a custom card of a Delmarva Scene to send, someone to photograph your event, portrait, or branding photos, I’m the photographer you are looking for.”

Happy New Year!
